Indian has become a major player of the V-twin scene. Few still recall Victory motorcycles; the Indian brand holds a distinct appeal. So, it only stands to reason we have an Indian as part of our Bolt On And Ride bikes. The choice fell on the basic version of the Indian Scout. The build was to be brief and precise, easily achievable and budget-friendly. Firstly, the front and rear fenders were shortened. The the ugly, bulky fenders were replaced with short, clean Cult-Werk items. The lights are integrated into the rear fender, and a HeinzBikes sidemount holds the licence plate. Additionally, a Cult-Werks fork cover kit cleans up the look of the front forks and complements the ultra-short mudguard and lamp mask from Indian, resulting in a squat and stocky front view.
The original exhaust system matches a similar appearance as the original mudguards……… ugly!!. The matt black VPerformance silencers with revolver end caps are considerably shorter than the original mufflers. With short front and rear fenders and the short VPerformance exhaust system, the result gives the Scout a short, concise stance. This also provides an unobstructed view of the motorbike and the beautiful big-spoke rims from TTS. These are entirely black, with only the spoke nipples chrome-plated, forming a striking contrast. The black silencers, fitted to the original chrome-plated headers, continue this theme. The V2 engine is entirely enveloped in black, with chrome-plated or polished covers and cylinder heads. This color scheme extends to the MX footrests from Arlen Ness, featuring chrome-plated footrests and black rubber inserts. One component is still missing. Öhlins rear suspension which ensures better traction and ride comfort, but also adds that little flash of gold.
Now, attention turns to the rider's seat. The Enzo solo seat from Roland Sand Design ensures a comfort and style. The Venice Beach handlebar from Highway Hawk which have a wide and flat stance which further emphasizes the crouched look of the front. Air Cushion grips from Avon, combined with adjustable clutch and brake levers from LSL, ensure comfortable and ergonomic feel.
Finally, a decision was made regarding the color scheme. It was to be understated, avoiding excessive emblems or decals. Classic British Racing Green was chosen, complementing the brown solo seat and giving the Scout a timeless look.
